In today’s post ‘Setting it Straight: Serious Tactical Training School‘ I stated the following:
“I’m starting to dislike the term ‘prepper’ because it seems to denote people who simply stash away food in fear of ever being hungry. I think I prefer survivalist. I’m looking for the best term. I certainly prefer people who make an effort to fix their physical fitness, and take tactical training seriously.”
I have been looking for something different. Not prepper, because the negative connotations associated with it now seem to apply to fat people stashing away food, and crazy incompetent people on Doomsday Preppers, overly focused on conspiracy theories. Not ‘survivalist,’ although that is a better alternative, because that was also successfully maligned as a term for ‘crazy survivalist types.’
If I am asked if I am a prepper, I say I am a realist or a rationalist. I am a tactical trainer and soldier who prepares for disaster scenarios. I am a supporter of rightful liberty, who keeps an eye on encroaching tyranny. I am not a conspiracy theorist of any kind.
So, here is my bid:
Which stands for:
What do you think? Can we make it catch on? Do you have a better idea?
