Good film Max..It came along about when one of my college dormitory mates came back from a year away, and was wearing a t-shirt..BE A MAN AMONG MEN JOIN THE RHODESIAN ARMY…needless to say we all had to see the film.
Just finished watching this last night.
Max, are you watching my netflix account again?
YT: I always wanted to get one of those T Shirts!
I remember my father watching this and Dogs of War. Ive never seen either, just pieces. Maybe ill have a go at’em. He took me to see Red Dawn when I was 12.
And now it’s becoming more clear. At my boarding school, if we got a Sunday movie, on an old projector in the gym, it was a diet of James Bond and A Bridge Too Far, and that Ilk. And you wonder….;-)
ABTF, yes classic. Ive been try to get to watch that again all week but things keep popping up. He exposed me to that too and it turned into one of my favorite movies. Shaun Connery and Anthony Hopkins are Epic. When i was young I well remembered the chap that got shot retrieving the para-case that was dropped only to drop it and red berets fell out. This camo kicked ass too.
Between Red Dawn and many others and constant trips on base I was set in my future path.
I forgot to ask..What is becoming clear?
PS I trust you are watching Viking s tonight on History?
hey Berg, you wanna roll a classic reel, check out Steve McQueen in Hell is for Heroes.
You know it’s gonna get deep, and soon, when your replacement guy shows up with a butcher knife and a grease gun.
In my top three of all time favorites. My oldest children love it too. I even designed a Tosh Homage Rifle using the Gunstruction App on AR15.com. I was so glad to find this on DVD as well. Had a devil of a time trying find it for sale on VHS. It needs to come out on blu-ray now. I have a friend from college that could quote this movie at will.
Has anyone read the book “The Wild Geese”? I loved Forsythe’s “The Dogs of War”, and I enjoy the hell out of both films, too.
I noticed in the more recent film Age of Heroes that the training scene dialogue mimed the same scenes from The Wild Geese. Or maybe that’s just sort of a universal, time proven methodology for getting men fit and ready? 🙂
Lets try for our first heart attack, shall we?
