I would like to encourage more females students to attend training weekends. Yes, running and gunning in the woods wearing all our camo and ‘gucci’ gear gear seems to be mostly a mans game, but everyone in the family needs to be able to help out tactically. If you have read either ‘Contact’ or ‘Patriot Dawn’ you will know my thoughts on that.
I have only had one female through the course so far, Helen of the Helen & Joe tactical married couple. She is a trooper and they have attended two training weekends so far. She has an AAR
up on the blog.
In the training information packet that I send out once you pay your deposit, I state the following:
Rifle/Shooting Proficiency: MVT tactical courses are not beginner/introductory courses to weapons handling and basic shooting. The basic assumption of the course is that you are bringing a rifle and equipment as per the equipment list; you have the ability to safely manipulate and fire the rifle that you bring; you have the ability to zero your rifle and have some basic shooting experience. Prior ‘square range’ and bench shooting experience is fine, the course is designed to move you beyond that, but you have to have the ability to safely and effectively manipulate and operate your rifle.
So clearly, I’m not trying to get clueless ‘chicks’ to attend the course, and I don’t think they would like it anyway, but if you have an other half who is proficient with a battle rifle, I encourage you to bring her along and train as a buddy pair.
It also provides added entertainment value for me: as the married buddy pairs go up the range, it adds a whole new level to ‘marital tiff’: “You move.” “No, YOU move!” etc.
If you are discussing this with your wife, you may want to refer them to Helen’s AAR
, and also tell her that there is a screened latrine with a proper toilet seat and moisturizing wipes as well as TP. Camping is available at site but the Koolwink Motel as Well as the South Branch Inn in Romney seem to be popular with students for a shower and decent bed at the end of the training day.
It will be both of you defending the retreat when the SHTF. And if you are sick or wounded, or killed, then she will be defending the kids. As such it is imperative to get all able bodied of age family members trained up to help you defend what is precious.
As such, I am offering a couples package: normal cost for a training weekend is $400 per person for the weekend., The special is $600 per couple for the weekend, or $300 each.
I also offer an alumni discount at 25% if you return to the same course again i.e. Combat Rifle / Contact Drills. That is $300 pr person for the weekend It does not apply to other courses, such as patrolling, which will be scheduled in the new year.
